The Reeds βn Stuff US Compact Forming Mandrel is designed for bassoon and contrabassoon reed making, combining a compact, comfortable handle with a mandrel shape inspired by the designs of renowned bassoonist Don Christlieb.
The mandrel pairs especially well with the Herzberg shape, while remaining versatile enough to work with most bassoon reed shapes. Engraved reference lines help guide the reed-making process, including recommended positions for forming the tube and after beveling. An additional third line provides a reference point for forming contrabassoon reeds.
The compact ergonomic handle is made from oiled beechwood for a comfortable grip, while the stainless steel mandrel provides durability and precision.
